After the season ending surgery for Alex Kangas was official,
the Gopher hockey team began a short search for a 3rd goalie to replace Kangas' roster spot. Former Hopkins standout Alex Fons got the call and joined the team in January, 2011. He is apparently heading back to the Juniors this season. |

in 25 games for the Owatonna Express of the NAHL), Sophomore Goalie Michael Shibrowski played in 45 games for the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL in 2010 - 2011 before joining the Gophers this year (he played with incoming Gopher Sophomore Defenseman Chris Student at Benilde-St. Margaret's). |
